Ern & Gil are distinct products from the two remaining quarries in Luxembourg: Ernzen and Gilsdorf.
These beautifully crafted stools are made at the Feidt quarry in Ernzen, using a combination of sawing, turning and manual machining techniques.
The intention behind using local material in these compact stools is to draw attention to our natural resources. The sedimentary origin of the stone is accentuated at the top of the stool by using the ancient technique of "split-hammering" - shaping the stone using a chisel and hammer. This approach gives the stool an irregular and intriguing texture.
